HTC has once again changed the name for the hot rumored first huge 4.7-inch Smartphone HTC Runnymede. Just a few days ago, it is said that the phone will be released with a new name HTC Bass. But now, news from official makes it clear that it will be actually called the HTC Sensation XL.
The HTC Sensation XL is a beast of a Smartphone mainly because of its really huge display. Although it has been talked for quite a long time that the new iPhone 5 would upgrade its screen to 4-inch from the 3.5-inch in iPhone 4, the latest news confirms that it is not true and the same 3.5-inch display will be equipped on iPhone 5. So the 4.7-inch screen will once again make the HTC device much bigger than iPhone.
However, it seems that the Sensation XL doesn’t have a strong processor; the single-core 1.5GHz processor is absolutely out of date for Android Smartphones. Compare to the news that Samsung Galaxy S3 would use a quad-core 2.0 GHz processor for the mid 2012 launch, this single-core processor seems too weak! To ensure a fast speed, HTC has upgraded the RAM to 1G.
This handset will come in 2 Beats Audio-themed variants: one with iBeats earbuds and the special edition with over-the-ear Beats Solo headphones. It will run on Android 2.3.4 system with the Sense 3.5 UI which has lots of optimizations to bring simple UI, fast speed and less memory consumption.
Other features like microSD card slot, Bluetooth 3.0, HTC Sync, GPS with A-GPS, 3G connectivity and 1600mAh battery are available on the device.
The HTC Sensation XL is expected to launch next month at the HTC’s October 7th event in London. The 16GB version is said to be at the price of €499.
