If you have read my previous blog on how to embed video in PowerPoint 2007, you should have learnt the way to embed any video formats to PowerPoint 2007 from both local drive and online. This function can be seen in PowerPoint 2010 too. Get the “Developer” tab on ribbon by right click anywhere on the ribbon → choose “Customize the Ribbon” → check the “Developer” in the pop up window.
PowerPoint 2010 also added another easier way to embed online YouTube video – insert the embed code. Follow the brief steps and try yourself.
Go to www.youtube.com and choose YouTube video you like. Click “Share” → “Embed” → check “Use old embed code” box → and then copy the embed code in the text box.
Open your PowerPoint 2010, and click “Insert” → “Video” → “Video from Web Site”.
Paste the embed code into the pop-up window and click “Insert”.
Then you will see the online YouTube video has been inserted into PowerPoint 2010.
Note: You have to switch to the “PowerPoint Show” mode so that you can play the video like on YouTube.
If you like, you can also make a YouTube video yourself using PowerPoint, click here to view the tutorial.
