Microsoft Surface: Office on Tablet Directly

The announcement of Microsoft Surface gives me the thought that finally there is one tablet that I can use to take place of my laptop.

For a long time, people are arguing whether the tablet could take place of desktop or laptop computers. Just iPhone, released in 2007, open the new era of Smartphones and left cell phone king Nokia behind. The first iPad, released in 2010, marked the beginning of real portable computing. Tablet, ever since its debuting, is considered as a portable computer. The iPad tablet has almost all the hardware that a computer should have: CPU, RAM, memory, graphics card, USB and better high-density screen. Usually tablet is operated with your fingers on the touch screen, ever since Asus Eee Pad Transformer, equip your tablet with a keyboard dock becomes popular. The new Microsoft Surface originally comes with a beautiful keyboard.

Let’s take a look at what Microsoft Surface looks like:

Microsoft Surface really looks wonderful, but what really attracts me is the full compatibility of desktop Windows programs. That means we are able to play desktop games, use Adobe Photoshop, view PowerPoint with all original effects and more. A previous survey indicates that over 40% percent of people would like to see Microsoft Office running on tablets. This function would help a lot for businessmen, teachers and students. I have seen a lot of students ask whether they should buy a laptop or tablet for school and they want it to run Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Now I can suggest Microsoft Surface.

Microsoft Surface will have two editions: the Standard edition is running Windows RT and the Pro edition is running Windows 8. Only the Pro edition can run all the desktop Windows programs. The Microsoft Surface RT can only run Metro applications and it has a special version of Microsoft Office – Microsoft Office 2013 RT. Below is the differences between the two Microsoft Surface editions:
