How to Set Songs as Background Music in PowerPoint 2010

Today I want to share with a useful PowerPoint 2010 trick, add songs in PowerPoint 2010 and set as background music. You know PowerPoint is made up of several slides and when you insert a song, it is inserted on one slide. When you advance to the next slide, the song will stop. How to fix it? Keep reading …

Step 1: Open your PowerPoint 2010 document, and click "Insert" > "Audio" > "Audio from File" to insert the music. PowerPoint 2010 supported audio formats: AIFF, AU, Mid, MIDI, MP3, WAV and WMA.

Step 2: Select the music icon and you will see the "Audio Tools" on the tab. Click the "Playback" tab, and choose start "Play across slides". By doing this the song will play across slides until the last slide or the song end.

Step 3: If the length of the song is short than the PowerPoint slideshow, you could check the "Loop until Stopped" option to make the song play continuously till the end of the PowerPoint slideshow.

Step 4: If I want to play music1 from slide 1 to 5 and music2 from slide 6 to 10. What to set it? Click "Animations" > "Animation Pane", right click on the song and choose "Effect Options".

Step 5: Under the Stop playing section, set the music to stop playing after 5 slides.

Step 7: That's it. Click F5 to preview the PowerPoint slideshow and check whether the background music settings are working.

For PowerPoint 2003 & 2007, the steps are a little different, you can check here for detail.
